This is reflecting in every mythology where even though a deity knows human nature can't accept being told no - gives them an irresistible temptation anyways. This is more a critique on new religions like xian.
Gnostic on the other hand is all about knowledge, and celebrating learning - not punishing education.
Her name lucy is a pun - not an xian reference but a double entendre to obfuscate - as most xians have no idea their religion stole everything from pre-existing hellen/Platonian philosophies, and Vedic philosophies before that.
